Biden: No SCOTUS Pick Until After Election

On June 25, 1992, (then) Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), delivered an emphatic floor speech, stating: …it is my view that if a Supreme Court justice resigns tomorrow or within the next several weeks, or resigns at the end of the summer, President Bush should consider following the practice of a majority of his predecessors and not — and not — name a nominee until after the November election is completed. And… The Senate, too, Mr. President must consider how it would respond to a Supreme Court vacancy that would occur in the full throes of an election year. It is my view that if the President goes the way of Presidents [Millard] Fillmore and [Andrew] Johnson, and presses an election year nomination, the Senate Judiciary Committee should seriously consider not scheduling confirmation hearings on the nomination until after the political campaign season is over. Final Prayer At Funeral For Antonin Scalia

Father Paul D. Scalia, the son of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and the episcopal vicar for clergy in the nearby suburban Diocese of Arlington, Va., had the final prayer: With faith in Jesus Christ, we must reverently bury the body of our brother. Let us pray with confidence to God, in whose sight all creation lives, that He will raise up in holiness and power the mortal body of our brother and command his soul to be among the blessed. May God grant him a merciful judgment, deliverance from death, and pardon of sin. May Christ the Good Shepard carry him home to be at peace with the Father. May he rejoice forever in the presence of the eternal king, and in the company of all the saints.

SCOTUS Justice Nomination Must Be Delayed

The fact of the matter is that it’s been standard practice over the last nearly 80 years that Supreme Court nominees are not nominated and confirmed during a presidential election year. Given the huge divide in the country, and the fact that this President, above all others, has made no bones about his goal to use the courts to circumvent Congress and push through his own agenda, it only makes sense that we defer to the American people who will elect a new president to select the next Supreme Court Justice. Originalist Bumper Sticker

SCOTUS Justice Antonin Scalia was an originalist, wherein he sought to interpret the meaning of the text in our Constitution as it was intended to be understood at the time when it was originally written. As such, our Constitution is not a ‘living’ document, wherein political aspirations of judicial activists may be exercised! Enjoy this bumper sticker and vote for a conservative.
