Biden: No SCOTUS Pick Until After Election

On June 25, 1992, (then) Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), delivered an emphatic floor speech, stating: …it is my view that if a Supreme Court justice resigns tomorrow or within the next several weeks, or resigns at the end of the summer, President Bush should consider following the practice of a majority of his predecessors and not — and not — name a nominee until after the November election is completed. And… The Senate, too, Mr. President must consider how it would respond to a Supreme Court vacancy that would occur in the full throes of an election year. It is my view that if the President goes the way of Presidents [Millard] Fillmore and [Andrew] Johnson, and presses an election year nomination, the Senate Judiciary Committee should seriously consider not scheduling confirmation hearings on the nomination until after the political campaign season is over. Senator Mike Lee Quote

Regarding the October 30th Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, a budget deal to suspend the debt limit for 17 months and increase government spending, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) remarked: …our grand, bipartisan solution to the impending insolvency of our nation’s largest disability insurance program amounts to stealing $150 billion from our nation’s largest retirement insurance program. Only in Washington, D.C. could something so deceptive and ineffectual – something so unfair to America’s seniors and future generations – be considered a “reform.” Source: Policy and Process Undeserving of the Support of the American People (conservativereview.com)

Ted Cruz Quote

The truth of the matter is, Republican leadership are the most effective Democrat leaders we’ve ever seen. They passed more Democratic priorities than Harry Reid ever could. – Ted Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz Gives Floor Speech On Export-Import Reauthorization On Highway Bill

“We’ve had a Republican majority in both houses of Congress now for about six months. What has that majority done? First thing we did, in December, is we came back and passed a $1 trillion ‘cromnibus’ plan filled with pork and corporate welfare. That was the very first thing we did. Then this Republican majority voted to fund Obamacare, voted to fund President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty. And then leadership rammed through the confirmation of Loretta Lynch as attorney general. Madam President, which of those decisions would be one iota different if Harry Reid were still majority leader? Not a one. Not a one. This Senate operates exactly the same — the same priorities…” Source: Sen.
